inspiration.
my initial inspiration was Sicilian ceramic artist, Don Corleone. in 2005, I visited the Don Corleone Objects studio in Taormina and fell in love with his abstract ceramic tiles. he has influenced my artistic style and inspired my diverse colour palette.

.rorrim
the .rorrim series began in early 2006 during experimentations for my visual arts major project. .rorrim is the word ‘mirror’ backwards, considering an opposing reflection to what would normally be viewed through a mirror. i am fascinated with how people function in different situations. the different personalities that one can produce and represent. when we look at ourselves in a mirror we see - in my case, an olive-skinned young woman with dark features - however who we truly are is not portrayed through this visual physical representation. As an over-used quote states - ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, this is the concept I have drawn from. the idea that an individual has multiple personas and characteristics deep within. this is portrayed through the semi-abstract face compositions, detailed with intensifying and distinct colour selections and defying bold black lines.
tP.
Art has been my passion since I was a little girl attending art classes after school from the age of seven. It gives me the ability to enter this indescribable world where time stops and all I can think about is the endless selection of colours, and the strokes of paint that dance on the blank canvas in front of me. All worries are lost, and I am completely disconnected from the realities of my world.
